Our school community has a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. This means that we have a Safeguarding Policy and have procedures in place to ensure that Child Protection issues are dealt with efficiently and appropriately. All staff, including our support staff, are aware of our procedures and parents and carers are welcome to read our school Safeguarding policy. Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare.
We will always ensure that our concerns about our students are discussed with their parents/carers first, unless there is reason to believe that this is not in the child’s best interests. If you have any concerns for a child or vulnerable adult then speak to one of the following who have been approved as safeguarding officers.

Child Sexual Exploitation can happen anywhere, including Cornwall.
Child Sexual Exploitation is child abuse involving children and young people receiving something, such as attention, affection, gifts, alcohol, drugs or accommodation in exchange for something the perpetrator wants. It can affect any child or young person under the age of 18. It is everyone’s responsibility to look for potential indicators of exploitation and practitioners need to know where to get help for victims.

Self-harm is when someone intends to hurt themselves or chooses to inflict pain on themselves in some way. There are plenty on online resources and agencies that can provide support to young persons in these situations.
