World Book Day 2024

Posted on: 08/03/2024

The school has had a great day celebrating World Book Day 2024. Staff and students have gone the extra mile and have created imaginative door displays representing a book of their choice. Door themes have included Narnia, The Enchanted Garden, Peter Pan, The Golden Compas to Holes, IT and Jaws, and the displays have been absolutely fantastic!

Staff and Year 7 also had the opportunity to dress up as their favourite book characters. It was a huge team effort, and many faculties went above and beyond embracing the spirit of the day.

We were lucky enough to be joined by author Emily Barr, our guest head judge who was blown away by the talent, effort and joy the school showed. Emily and Mr Bonds together judged student winners, staff winners and best door. Later in the day, the Year 10 book club students interviewed Emily who gave lots of tips and insights into the world of a writer.

It was fun, full and inspiring day where staff and students came together to celebrate books and the joy they can bring. Well done to everyone who took part! Faculty winner was English for their Dickensian themed costumes. Staff winner was Mrs Sawalha as Miss Trunchbull. Best door went to 8CLO for their Mr Men & Little Miss theme. Best Year 7 outfits: 1st place - Eva F as Stick Man, 2nd Place Seb C as Willy Wonka, 3rd place Tommy B as Mr Bump. Special Recognition to ELC for their Wizard of Oz tribute.
