Students take on the Faraday Challenge!

Posted on: 24/02/2025

Year 8 students recently took part in the Faraday Challenge. This was an engineering challenge with students spending the day creating a product that would be powered by battery. Students were taken through the entire engineering process from identifying the problem to creating a finished prototype of the product. Students also had to work to a budget and purchase items using a currency called ‘Faradays’. Products included a pulley system to lift items for people in wheelchairs, a mechanical electronic version of hungry hippos and the winning toy that teaches young children to press the correct pad to make a certain colour light come on.
The students had a great day and learnt a huge amount about the engineering process. Many said that they were now considering engineering as a career and it was something they had not previously considered. Well done to all involved.
