National Judo Success
Posted on: 21/03/2019Tecca F and Vita C travelled to Sheffield on Friday to compete and represent Redruth School in the British School Judo Nationals on Saturday- a very high standard event.
Both girls fought extremely well in a big group of girl entries. Vita lost out in the Bronze fight which secured her 5th place Y10-11 under 57kg (5th Round). Tecca lost out in the 4th round to gain 6th place in Y8-9 under 63kg, just missed outgoing through for Bronze. This was a valuable experience for Vita and Tecca.
Rushing back from Sheffield to Tamworth, both the girls were joined by Will B (Y7) in the BJC National awards evening where they were shortlisted for awards. Vita, Tecca and Will were 3 of the nine members from the club to shortlisted for awards within the British Judo Council.
Vita was shortlisted for Female Senior Squad Member
Will was Shortlisted for Tony Grigg Award - Additional Needs
Tecca was Shortlisted for Female Junior Squad Member and Tony Grigg awards - Additional Needs.
Tecca won the Tony Grigg award - Additional Needs.
The club brought three national awards home from that evening. Well done to our Judo stars- they are very committed to their sport, and are doing so well.
