Mining Games Champions!

Posted on: 21/06/2024

On Thursday a group of Year 8 students attended King Edward Mine in Troon to compete in the Cornwall School Mining Games. This is a competition where students take part in 6 different mining disciplines which include: mineral separation, mucking, panning, surveying, hand steeling and sawing. The students showed exceptional behaviour and attitude towards the competition, getting stuck into many different challenging activities. Not only did the students learn a set of new skills and get themselves a free pasty (which went down a treat), but they were also able to return the title to Redruth by winning the competition overall! Mr Annis and Mr Tregidga were absolutely delighted, especially after all the hard work that the students have put into preparing for the games! Well done to all, we shall see the trophy back in school soon!
